I.) Comprehension :

A.) Answer in two – three sentences each:
 
1.) Who was Sindbad? What was he fond of?
Answer: Sindbad was the King and he was fond of racing and hunting.
 
2.) What had the king brought up? What did he tie around its neck? Why?
Answer: The king brought up a falcon as his pet and he tied a golden cup around her neck to give her water during hunting.
 
3.) What did the falcon suggest to the king one day?
Answer: One day the falcon suggested to the king that it was a suitable time for hunting.
 
4.) How did the king threaten the hunting troop?
Answer: The king ordered hunting troop to beware and threatened them by saying whoever allows the gazelle to escape from here will be punished to death.
 
5.) Why does the falcon upset the cup with the “dripping liquid”?
Answer: The dripping liquid was actually the poison of viper snake therefore the falcon upset the cup with the “dripping liquid”.
 
6.) When did the falcon succumb to death?
Answer: The falcon was bearing the pain until the king reaches to the camp. The falcon sat comfortably and then suddenly gasped and succumbed to death.
 
7.) What was the king’s reaction?
Answer: When the falcon died the king cried aloud. The king was sad because he lost his faithful companion who saved his life.

1.) How did the king look after the falcon?
Answer: The king was having falcon as his pet. The king always kept the falcon with him. Even in the night the falcon stayed with him on his fist. The king tied golden cup around the neck of falcon so falcon can drink water from it during hunting.
 
2.) How did the gazelle escape?
Answer: The hunting team of the king was started to narrowing the net circle to trap the gazelle but the gazelle moved towards the king and stood on her hind legs, then gazelle lifted her forelegs up to her breast and suddenly jumped above the head of the king and escaped out of the maze.
 
3.) How did the falcon help the king to kill the gazelle?
Answer: The king run after the gazelle to hunt it and falcon also flew with it. The falcon flew high up and traced the fleeing gazelle. Then falcon swooped down and blinded the gazelle with her talons and then the king immediately struck his mace at the blinded gazelle and the matter is finished. Thus, the falcon helped the king to kill the gazelle.
 
4.) Why did the king take out the cup?
Answer: The king and his horse was thirsty and the falcon was also thirsty so king take out the cup from the neck of the falcon and collected some dripping water coming through the leaves of a tree.
 
5.) What activity of the falcon made the king become furious?
Answer: When the king collected dripping water in the cup and placed it in front of the falcon then the falcon overturned the cup instead of drinking it. The king filled the cup again and again placed in front of the falcon but falcon upset it again with her talons hence the king annoyed at the falcon’s strange behaviour and after that he took the dripping water and placed it in front of his horse then falcon again overturned it thus the falcon made the king furious.
 
6.) Why did the king cut off the wings of the falcon?
Answer: King was annoyed with the strange behaviour of the falcon. The falcon was not drinking water or not letting the horse drink water and king became furious and cut off the wings of the falcon.
 
7.) What did the falcon indicate to the king?
Answer: After king cut the wings of the falcon the falcon cried in pain and indicated the king to look up by raising her head and when king looked up, he saw that there was a poisonous viper and the liquid dripping from the tree was poison.
 
8.) How did the king’s men trap the gazelle?
Answer: When the gazelle trapped in the net then king’s hunting troop started lifting net from all the side and started to narrowing the net circle to trap the gazelle.
 
9.) Why did the falcon upset the cup again and again?
Answer: After hunting the gazelle the king, falcon and the horse were thirsty. When King saw dripping liquid under the tree he took the cup from the neck of falcon and filled it and give it to falcon but falcon upset the cup again and again because she has observed that the dripping liquid was actually the poison of viper snake.

Answer: Falcon was upsetting the cup again and again hence the king got furious and cut the falcon’s wing. The falcon cried with pain. The falcon indicated the king to look up and when the king saw that the dripping liquid was the poison of the viper snake then the king realizes his mistake. The falcon died therefore the king repented.
 
11.) Why did the king call his pet unlucky and foolish thing?
Answer: The king offered the falcon the cup filled with liquid but the falcon upset the cup again and again, the falcon was not drinking liquid nor she let horse drink the liquid hence the king irritated and called the pet unlucky and foolish thing.
 
12.) How did the falcon save the king’s life?
Answer: The king was collecting liquid to drink for falcon, horse and himself unaware that the liquid is actually the poison of the viper snake. The falcon noticed that the liquid is the poison of viper snake and upset the cup again and again hence the furious king cut the wings of the falcon and in pain falcon indicated the snake thus the falcon saved the king’s life.

Answer: The king has a falcon as a pet. The falcon was always stayed with king even in the night the falcon was staying on his fist. The king Sindbad tied a golden cup around its neck to provide drink to the falcon during hunting. The king and the falcon went for hunting together. The falcon was hunting companion of the king.
 
2.) How did the king hunt the gazelle?
Answer: King’s men formed a circular shroud of a net for the victim. Soon a gazelle trapped in the net. Then the net was lifted by the king’s hunting troop from all the sides and slowly started to narrowing the net circle to trap the gazelle. Then the gazelle moved towards the king and stood on her hind legs, then she lifted her forelegs up to her breast and suddenly jumped above the head of the king and escaped out of the maze. King went after the gazelle to bring it back. The falcon few high up and traced the fleeing gazelle and swooped down and blinded the gazelle with her talons and the king immediately struck his mace at the blinded gazelle and end thus hunt the gazelle.

Answer: When the woman saw mongoose with blood on itsmouth, she thought that the mongoose killed her baby and she got furious and killed the mongoose.
 
D.) Why did the woman shed tears?
Answer: Woman presumed that the mongoose killed her baby and killed mongoose but when she saw that the mongoose actually helped her by killing snake which close to her baby then she realizes her mistake and shed tears.
 
E.) What do you learn from this story?
Answer: The learning from the story is we should not presume and take decisions without knowing the complete situation.
